Kathy A.Fields, M.D.

Katie P. Rodan, M.D. Kathy A. Fields, M.D., is a Stanford-trained, board-certified dermatologist who has been in private practice in San Francisco since 1987. Dr. Fields' practice of medical and surgical dermatology encompasses the treatment of disorders of the skin, hair, and nails, including the excision of benign and malignant skin growths.

Dr. Fields is co-developer of Proactiv ® Solution, a highly successful acne skin care system for adults and teens, launched in 1995. Proactiv Solution continues to monopolize the acne skin care market as it offers a solution for both treatment and prevention. Proactiv Solution has been used by over three million people, positioning Dr. Fields in the forefront of acne treatment in the medical community.

Well-recognized in her specialty, Dr. Fields is a consultant for numerous publications and has been quoted in many magazines including Glamour , Self , McCall's , Allure , Redbook , Cosmopolitan , and Good Housekeeping . She is a consultant for KRON-TV, Channel 4 News in San Francisco and a Beauty & Skin Consultant for Nordstrom stores. She has also appeared on The View with Barbara Walters and other national affiliates.

As an authority on skin disease and aging, a significant portion of Dr. Fields' practice is devoted to cosmetic dermatology and helping patients who wish to minimize the appearance of the adverse effects of sun exposure. She performs collagen and botox treatments, skin peels, and sclerotherapy of leg veins, as well as laser surgery and liposuction.

As an expert in her profession, Dr. Fields has been written up in Who's Who in American Women and American Business in addition to making personal appearances on the Discovery Channel . Dr. Fields is a national lecturer to her peers on the subject of acne, botox injections, liposuction, aging skin, as well as cancer and breakthrough dermatology.

Dr. Fields attended the University of Miami School of Medicine and did her residency at Stanford University. She is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at UCSF and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Fields' professional goal is to educate doctors and consumers on the many common and complex conditions and treatments in dermatology today, from pediatrics to geriatrics and cancer. In addition, she wants to impact the cosmetics industry by facilitating access to problem/solution treatments that work.

 

She is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the California Medical Association. She also holds a hospital appointment at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, CA.

Dr. Rodan has authored or co-authored articles about dermatologic conditions and treatments for the conditions in journals such as the Archives in Dermatology and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. In addition, she has given numerous presentations and lectures with an emphasis on skin and hair care.

Dr. Rodan's professional goal is to educate the public about skin diseases, cosmetic issues and create products that have easy access and effectively and aesthetically treat common dermatologic conditions.
